Yamamoto Keitaro (山本 桂太朗) is a Lecturer, Unlimited Cliffer No. 5 and a SASUKE competitor who has competed nine times, debuting in SASUKE 20 and is currently one of the rising stars of the show. He holds the record of clearing Muscle Park in just under 26 seconds.
Teenage Years[]
In the Trials at Muscle Park, he won a spot in SASUKE 20 and was the only Unlimited Cliffer to do so (even though Matsuda Tsuyoshi also competed in the tournament). During SASUKE 20, he made it through the first three obstacles and sized up the Jumping Spider only to fail after getting onto the walls.
He also competed in the SASUKE 21 Trials but timed out on the Sandbag Lift. He also competed in the SASUKE 22 Trials and SASUKE 23 Trials, failing to complete the 800m race in time and failing to hold onto the bar the longest respectively.
SASUKE RISING and Afterwards[]
Yamamoto returned to SASUKE in SASUKE 29 with the #91. There, he was able to clear the First Stage. However in the Second Stage, he timed out on the Backstream like many that day. It can be noted that one of the reasons contributing to this fail would be because of the obstacle getting its jets increase in power to very dangerous levels.
He competed in the SASUKE 33 Trials but was ultimately not selected to compete.
He returned once more in SASUKE 34 after a 4 tournament absence wearing #74. In the tournament, he cleared the First Stage again, but in the Second Stage he failed the Reverse Conveyor, making it to the belt and falling off immediately after his time ran out. Though his run was digested, it was evident that he had struggled with the Backstream once again due to his low time after clearing it.
In SASUKE 35, he wore #89 and was able to pass the First Stage with 5 seconds remaining. However, in the Second Stage, he slipped on the Spider Drop, and failed it, becoming the first to do so.
In SASUKE 36 he wore his highest number to date, #93. His First Stage run was digested but he cleared the stage with 12 seconds left. His Second Stage run was also digested. He timed out on the Wall Lifting on the third wall after struggling to lift and crawl under the previous walls. He is thus currently the only competitor to have failed the Second Stage four consecutive times.
In SASUKE 37, he wore #90 and it looked like he would clear the First Stage for the fourth straight time. But surprisingly, he ended up timing out on the Soritatsu Kabe, possibly due to the bad weather. As such, he failed the First Stage for the first time since his debut in SASUKE 20.
Yamamoto would wear the same bib number in SASUKE 38, and while digested, he was shown to clear the First Stage with 15.7 seconds left on the clock, a personal best. His run would however come to a familiar, yet shocking end as he would slip and fall on the now functioning Rolling Log, being the obstacle's only direct victim, as while it negatively contributed to many other runs, he was the only one to fail it proper. This further continued his streak of Second Stage failures, with five.
For the third consecutive time, Yamamoto wore #90 in SASUKE 39. Despite the bad weather that plagued the last 17 runs, he managed to clear the First Stage in a digested performance with little trouble. In the Second Stage, despite some hesitation on the Backstream, he managed to clear the stage with just over 1 second left, breaking his Second Stage fail streak and making his long-awaited Third Stage appearance. In the Third Stage, despite high expectations to do well, he would go out early on the redesigned Sidewinder when he mistimed his jump to the third pillar. He was greatly saddened by this, as he apologized for not being able to live up to the expectations of his fans.
Keitaro's number was lowered to #3975 in SASUKE 40 (probably due to the stacked competitor field that day). Nevertheless, Yamamoto lived up to the expectations and showed that his Third Stage appearence of last time wasn't a fluke. Both his First and Second Stages run, along with many Morimoto Sedai members, were digested, but he was shown to clear easily with 17.41 seconds left in the First and narrowly in the second, only leaving 00.96 seconds on the clock. His true potential would only be shown in the Third Stage, where he'd progress further than most of the field, clearing obstacles like Cliffhanger Dimension and Vertical Limit. Unfortunately, the Pipe Slider had been subject to a modification in which the support at the end of the track had been removed. This showed as the competitors getting there struggled to keep the bar in place and as a result, Yamamoto became the first victim of the landing platform swing in 11 tournaments.
Keitaro would return for SASUKE 41 and continued his consistency of reaching the Third Stage. He became one of four to clear the buffed Cliffhanger Dimension, but would ultimately fail the transfer on the fourth section of Vertical Limit Burst. This performance was enough to tie him with the best performance along with Morimoto Yūsuke and Miyaoka Ryosuke.
VIKING[]
Prior to Yamamoto competing in SASUKE, he has also competed in VIKING 2 at the age of thirteen years old. He was given the invite to compete in the competition as he won fourth in a push-up competition. From there, he would eventually fail the Cannonball.
