Shōei (照英) known by his real name Takahashi Teruhide (高橋 照英) is an actor and model who attempted SASUKE three times. He reached the Third Stage in SASUKE 8, his final SASUKE tournament.

Prior to competing in SASUKE, Shōei completed multiple times in a related show, Pro Sportsman No. 1. He particularly shined in the 8th Celebrity competition, where after clawing his way to the Shot Gun Touch, he successfully completed 12m30cm by a fingertip. This allowed him to edge his way into 1st place, defeating prolific Celebrity Sportsman winner Kane Kosugi by a mere 1 point.

Shoei winning the 8th Celebrity Sportsman by a mere fingertip.

He made his debut in SASUKE 6, wearing #89 (also the highest number during his time in SASUKE ever), where he failed the Jump Hang. He caught the net, but accidentally lost his grip swinging down it and fell into the water after a few seconds.

In SASUKE 7, he wore #61, beating the Jump Hang and Soritatsu Kabe, but timed out on the Rope Climb, just a few feet from the buzzer. Before he ran, he was shown laughing at Akira's fail just like in SASUKE 6, but this time he was shown saying, "What a fail!".

In his final appearance during SASUKE 8, Shōei was given #81 and performed much better than his other two runs. He beat the First Stage by a close call, only 0.1 seconds from timing out. After that, he flew through the Second Stage and cleared it with 9.3 seconds left. However, in the Third Stage, he beat the Propeller Untei, but fell on the Body Prop because his grip gave away. Coincidentally, he was the Last Man Standing of the Japanese competitors for that tournament due to the two foreigners(Bulgarian Jordan Jovtchev and American Kane Kosugi) clearing the Third Stage in that tournament. He has not appeared in SASUKE since then.

Shōei's last ever appearance after SASUKE 8 was in 9th Celebrity Sportsman No. 1. However, during the final heat of Iron Squat event, the fourth set of tires (80kg) dropped for him and James Okada, but got stuck for Nakayama Kinnikun. Because of this, the event was considered as "No Contest" and was thrown out.
