SNWI International Competition

SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia: International Competition was the first ever SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia's international tournament. The show was filmed at the back field of Mall @ Alam Sutera, Tangerang, Banten, and premiered on November 25th, 2017.

Competition Format

SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia: International Competition featured 6 stages. Those stages were: Challenge Stage, Warrior Stage, Semifinal Stage 1, Semifinal Stage 2, Final Stage, and Mount Midoriyama Stage. Both Challenge Stage and Warrior Stage were filmed during daytime, while the other 4 stages were filmed during nighttime.

There were 4 teams competed, with 5 members in each team: Team Indonesia (as the host), Team Japan, Team USA, and Team Europe (consisted of 5 Ninja Warrior competitors from 5 different European countries). Each team had one member who served as the captain of the team.

Unlike on the regular season, the format in this competition was different, as in the first two stages, it would be a team competition (referred as the Speed Challenge), while in the next four stages, competitors had to compete against the course (referred as the Sudden Death).

Speed Challenge

  • The stages used were Challenge Stage and Warrior Stage.
  • There were 5 batches in each stage.
  • Each batch consisted of 4 competitors (1 competitor from each team).
  • In each batch, the competitor who completed the course (or made the furthest) in the fastest time would receive 4 points for his team, with 3 points for the second fastest time, 2 points for the third fastest time, and 1 point for the slowest time.
  • At the end of each stage, the points from 5 batches would be accumulated, and the team who got the highest points could choose the running position for each batch in the next stage first (after that, the team with the second highest points could choose the running position for each batch in the next stage, and so on).
  • The points would be reset to zero when the competition entered a new stage.

Sudden Death

  • The stages used were Semifinal Stage 1, Semifinal Stage 2, Final Stage, and Mount Midoriyama Stage.
  • The competition worked similarly to SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia's regular season, with only the competitors who completed all the obstacles in each stage would advance to the next stage (for Semifinal Stage 1, Semifinal Stage 2, and Mount Midoriyama Stage, there was a time limit to complete each stage).
  • In Mount Midoriyama Stage, one competitor who completed the stage in the fastest time would receive the cash prize of IDR 500,000,000.

Also, competitors must keep their shoes tied while competing. If their shoes fell off at any part of the course (either on or off the course), they would be disqualified.

Obstacles Modification

Compared to the regular season, several obstacles were modified or changed the completion rule for this competition, in order to make the obstacles harder for the competitors. Here were the obstacles:

  • Quintuple Steps: The steps were made steeper.
  • Wind Chimes: The gaps between the chimes were made slightly larger.
  • Floating Tiles: The tiles were made more bouncy when the competitors stepped on them.
  • Pole Grasper (Semifinal Stage 1): The number of poles was reduced from 4 to 3.
  • Spinning Log: The log was made thinner and more swinging when the competitors attempted the obstacle.
  • Sonic Curve: The number of steps was reduced from 6 to 4 by removing the last 2 steps, resulting the competitors must swing farther from the rope to the landing platform.
  • The Pinang: The second pole was given a blue line, indicating that the competitors were only allowed to make the dismount to the landing platform after their feet reached below the line.
  • Jumping Spider: Some parts of the walls were covered with red sticker, and the competitors were not allowed to touch them. If they did so, they would be disqualified.
  • Monkey Peg: There were only 2 removable pegs instead of 10 pegs (8 stationary pegs and 2 removable pegs). Also, some of the holes at the bottom part of the pegboard were covered, making it harder for the competitors to traverse the obstacle.
  • Salmon Ladder: Competitors must reached the seventh rung instead of the fifth, with the gap between the sixth and seventh rung was higher than the other rungs (similar to SASUKE version of the Salmon Ladder).
