Intro[]

The 10th Sportsman competition, official name:「スポーツマンNo.1決定戦X」 (literally Sportsman No. 1 X) was the fourth Pro Sportsman Tournament. In similar format to the previous Pro Sportsman Tournament, various athletes from various sports would compete in a series of Sportsman events to gain points.

In this competition, two of the eight events are brand new: The Best of Tugger and Thirty. The events Dead Man's Drop, Monster Box, Dash, The Gallon Throw, and Shot-Gun Touch once again appearing from the previous Pro Sportsman Tournament. While Tail Impossible would make its first Pro Sportsman Tournament appearance.

The prizes in this competition are as follows:

  • Event Winners would receive a Waltham Vacuum Men's Watch and JPY 300,000
  • Tenth Place Competitor would receive a Panasonic Sportsmate Digicam
  • Ninth Place Competitor would receive a GT LTS-3000 Bicycle
  • Eighth Place Competitor would receive a Million Gift Card and JPY 100,000
  • Seventh Place Competitor would receive a Sealy Waterbed and JPY 200,000
  • Sixth Place Competitor would receive a Maple Leaf Gold Coins and JPY 300,000
  • Fifth Place Competitor would receive a Tsukuba Sansho Sofa and JPY 400,000
  • Fourth Place Competitor would receive a Pair Trip to Tahiti and JPY 600,000
  • Third Place Competitor would receive a ESTELLE Diamond Fashion Ring and JPY 1,000,000
  • Second Place Competitor would receive a Nissan Cube car and JPY 2,000,000
  • First Place Competitor would receive a Nissan Elgrand car and JPY 5,000,000

Apart from the Pro Sportsman Tournament, a separate event named Speed Battle World Championship (スピードバトル世界一決定戦) also took place in this tournament. This event was filmed separately at the Tokyo Bay NK Hall, a location where past Celebrity Survival Battle competitions are filmed. Invited male and female professional athletes would compete in various Sportsman events. The female competitors would compete in Beach Flags and Monster Box which broadcasted as a filler in-between Thirty and Monster Box, while the male competitors would compete in Beach Flags and Shot-Gun Touch which broadcasted as a filler in-between Tail Impossible and The Gallon Throw.

Events[]

The Best of Tugger[]

The event involves competitors engaging in a game of tug-of-war. The sixteen competitors are divided into two groups of eight, with the winning team advancing to the next round. The winning team of the previous round would then compete against each other in another round of tug-of-war. This process continues in the further rounds until the last round where the lone winner of the round becomes the No. 1 of the event.

Competitors would be given corresponding points based on their progress on the event:

  • No. 1 of the Event would be given 100 points
  • Loser of Round 4 would be given 70 points
  • Losers of Round 3 would be given 40 points
  • Losers of Round 2 would be given 20 points
  • Losers of Round 1 would be given 5 points

Dead Man's Drop[]

The event involves two competitors standing on a 3 meter high pole with a rope wrapped around their waists, with them only allowed to hold the rope using their left hand. Competitors would use their waists to topple their opponent on their pedestal. There is no time limit for the course

In Round 1, the competitor who managed to topple their opponent would move on to the quarterfinals. This process is repeated until the Finals where the competitor who managed to topple their opponent on their pedestal would be the No. 1 of the event.

Competitors would be given corresponding points based on their progress on the event:

  • No. 1 of the Event would be given 100 points
  • Loser of Finals would be given 70 points
  • Losers of Semifinals would be given 40 points
  • Losers of Quarterfinals would be given 20 points
  • Losers of Round 1 would be given 5 points

Thirty[]

The event involves four competitors mentioning numbers from one to thirty with no guide present. Competitors are allowed to mention one or two numbers within the range. Once they mention a number that was already given, they are eliminated from the round. The round would continue until one person is remaining.

There were a total of five heats in this competition, with four competitors in each heat. In each of the first four heats, the competitor who managed to survive would move on to the final round. In the final round, the round would reset once a competitor is eliminated. This would repeat until there is only competitor remaining that would be the No. 1 of the event.

Monster Box[]

The event involves competitors running down a runway onto a springboard and vault over a giant vaulting box that increases in height after all competitors have attempted the current height. In this tournament, the male competitors would start at 10 Levels which has an equivalent height of 1 meter and 76 centimeters and gradually increases by 10 centimeters with each levels.

The event involves competitors running across a 50m track, with the fastest competitor from each heat of three to four persons advancing to the next round. In addition, the two fastest competitors who didn't win their respective heats would also advance. The competitors would once again compete in the next two rounds until a winner is decided.

The event involves competitors running around a 100 meter track for four laps, with the last competitors finishing the laps being eliminated from the event. The number of competitors eliminated per round may vary per round and would continue until the fastest competitor to complete the laps being the No. 1 of the event.

The Gallon Throw[]

The event involves competitors hoisting a barrel upwards in a way that the barrel must go over a high fence that is behind the competitor. In this tournament, the male competitors would start at a starting height of 4 meters and 50 centimeters. The height of the fence would eventually increase as the rounds progress.

Shot-Gun Touch[]

The event involves competitors sprinting towards the end of the runway to touch a falling volleyball ten metres above. The volleyball must be released by pressing a button at the start of the runway, failure to do so signify a miss. In this tournament, the male competitors would start at a starting distance of 11 meters and would eventually increase as the rounds progress.

The event involves competitors laying down flat on their stomachs facing behind the track. Once a whistle is blown, they must stand up and run across the track to grab a limited number of flags.

There were five rounds in this competition, which would slowly eliminate competitors one by one as the rounds progress. In the final heat, the competitor who managed to grab the last flag would be the No. 1 of the event.

In this event, seven female competitors from across the world competed and unlike the male competitors competing in the previous events, there are no corresponding points given for the female competitors in this event.

The event involves competitors sprinting towards the end of the runway to touch a falling volleyball ten metres above. The volleyball must be released by pressing a button at the start of the runway, failure to do so signify a miss. In this tournament, the male competitors would start at a starting distance of 11 meters and would eventually increase as the rounds progress.
