It was a log 30cm in diameter and 4 meters wide that was on an incline. As the competitors walked up the log, it would roll from side to side (almost similar to the Burasagari Maruta).
Used as the second obstacle, it pushed the Sandan Rolling Maruta to the third obstacle. It didn't take out many competitors and after this tournament (due to Nagano Makoto's kanzenseiha), the course was redesigned and the Maruta Zaka was removed.
