The Maruta Kudari (丸太下り), called as the Rapid Descent on Ninja Warrior, was a First Stage obstacle in the first four SASUKE tournaments, which first debuted as the third obstacle.

This obstacle was the exact opposite of the Maruta Nobori. The obstacle consisted of rotating five logs (or drums in the first competition) arranged like a staircase angled downward at 45°. The competitor must make it from a platform, across a water pit, and to a landing pad. Many competitors took to simply jumping over the obstacle instead of climbing down, which was proven to be a bad strategy, due to how competitors were unable to build up enough momentum.

During its debut, the third log rotated automatically, a feature that was absent in subsequent appearances. For SASUKE 3, it was moved to the fourth obstacle due to the debut of the Rolling Maruta and the Yureru Hashi taking its third position.

It was replaced in favor of the much more difficult Jump Hang following Akiyama Kazuhiko's kanzenseiha in SASUKE 4.

This obstacle was originally called the Taki Kudari (滝下り) in SASUKE 1. Its name was switched with another obstacle in SASUKE 2. Later, this obstacle was fused with the Maruta Nobori, and named as the Rolling Hill in SASUKE 31.
