Qualifying and Finals Obstacles

Introduced in Season 1

Quad Steps

Competitors must run across 4 angled platforms that are five feet wide. This has been the first obstacle in every qualifying and finals courses from season 1-4. It evolved into the Quintuple Steps.

Rope Swing

Competitors must swing 20 feet from one platform to the next.

Rolling Barrel

Competitors must run across a slow spinning barrel.

Spider Jump

Competitors must use a Mini-Tramp and move across two walls.

Pipe Slider

Competitors must use a pipe to slide across the track. The season 1 version had three drops in the track. The season 4 version's track was straight.

Warped Wall

Competitors must run across the 14 ft. curved wall. It has been the final obstacle for every qualifying course, and the sixth obstacle in every finals course.

Tarzan Rope

Competitors must work their way across a bunch of ropes to make it to the next obstacle.

Jumping Bars

Competitors must jump from one bar to the next

Cargo Climb

Competitors must climb up the cargo net. This has been the final obstacle for every finals course from season 1-3.

Introduced in Season 2

Bridge of Blades

Competitors must run across 4 free spinning platforms.

Jumping Spider

Players Must jump from a Mini-Tramp and lock in the arms and legs. Then they must work there across the plexiglass. This obstacle is one of the hardest obstacle for the past three years. It's the fourth obstacle in stage 1 of Mount Midoriyama.

Salmon Ladder

Competitors must use momentum and upper body strength to move the bar up five rungs. Since season 2, this has been the seventh obstacle in every finals course.

Circle Slider

Competitors must slide across a using a ring.

Introduced in Season 3

Log Grip

Competitors must grip on a log and slide across the track. The season 3 and 4 version had holes so competitors can grip on. The track two drops. The season 6 version had hand holds instead of holes, and the slide had one drop. The season 7 version had hand holds and the slide had two drops.

Jump Hang

Competitors must jump on a Mini-Tramp and grab the cargo net. The season 3 and 4 version had you making a choice of going over or under the cargo net. The season 6 version made you go under. The season 7 version cargo net was extended.

Unstable Bridge

Competitors must grab on to a bridge that is suspended on all for corners and use their arms to work across and jump to the next bridge that is suspended on the middle.

Spinning Log

Competitors must run across a free spinning log. The season 4 version was red and you were allowed to use your hands. The season 6 version looked like a log and you couldn't use your hands. The season 7 version had a red circle in the middle.

Devil Steps

Competitors must use their grip strength to ascend 20 ft. up the steps, and 20 ft. down t he steps. The season 4 and 6 version had you grabbing back of the sixth step, and then the front. There was a 3 foot gap at the top. The season 7 version had you grabbing the back of the sixth step, then the front. It also had 4th step tilt, a 3 foot gap at the top, a missing step, and to steps at the bottom that pivoted.

Curtain Slider

Competitors must run and grab the silk to slide and then use the momentum to grab another silk to get to the platform.

Bungee Bridge

Competitors must run across 4 strands of bungees.

Wall Lifting

Competitors must lift up 3 walls, one that is 66 lbs., one is 88 lbs., and one is 110 lbs. This obstacle is the last one in stage 2 of Mount Midoriyama.

Rope Junction

Competitors must work their way across six ropes.

Swing Circle

Competitors must swing by 4 rings.

Arm Rings

Competitors must grab on to two rings and use the momentum to move the rings across the rack. The left rack will go up, and the right rack will go down.

Lamp Grasper

Competitors must grab the blue glowing spheres.

Cycling Road

Competitors must grab the 4 wheels.

Rope Ladder

Competitors must climb up the cargo net. This obstacle has been the final obstacle for every finals course in Season 4.

Introduced in Season 5

Quintuple Steps

Competitors must run across 5 angled platforms that are five feet wide. Frame Slider

Competitors must lock in their legs and slide across the rack with one drop.

Domino Hill

Competitors must run across 5 dominos that get less stable as you go up.

Floating Chains

Competitors must grab the chains and move across them. Two of the chains have foot holds.

Flying Nunchucks

Competitors must jump from a Mini-Tramp and grab the nunchucks and then use momentum to grab another pair of nunchucks.

Trapeze Swing

Competitors must grab a trapeze bar, and then use momentum to grab another trapeze bar.

Rope Maze

Competitors must grab a rope and figure their way out of the maze.

Cliffhanger

Competitors must use their finger tips and upper body strength to work their way across three ledges.

Downhill Jump

Competitors must use a board to slide downhill and grab the rope.

Prism See-Saw

Competitors must jump on a See-Saw that is shaped like a prism.

Swing Jump

Competitors must stand up on a swing and use momentum to jump off it and grab the cargo net. Then competitors must go under the cargo net.

Circle Cross

Competitors must use momentum to grab alternating rings and ropes.

Rumbling Dice

Competitors must grab a 35 lbs piece of metal and move it to get to the platform. The season 7 version had you grabbing a 30 lbs piece of metal, then grab a 50 lbs piece of metal.

Body Prop

Competitors must use their hands, feet, and core strength to move across two walls that are 29 ft long. The season 5 and 6 version had a gap in the wall where you put your hands. The season 7 version had a section where you went downward.

Utility Pole Slider

Competitors must use a small log with handles to slide down.

Balance Bridge

Competitors must balance across one beam that tilts back and forth. Then they must jump to a second beam that tilts back and forth.

Slider Jump

Competitors must slide to a cargo net. Then competitors must go under the cargo net.

Monkey Peg

Competitors must move across by grabbing pegs that alternate from side to side. Then move across by putting two pegs from hole to hole.

Ledge Jump

Competitors must jump on a 3 inch ledge, then jump to a 2 inch ledge, then jump to a 1 inch ledge.

Rolling Steel

Competitors must grab a bar with two dips for your hands. Then, they must roll the bar upward.

Rolling Log

Competitors must grab a log and hold on as it rolls.

Rotating Bridge

Competitors must run across a bridge that rotates. You have to run on the side because the bridge has 3 big holes in it.

Jump Hang Kai

Competitors must jump from a Mini-Tramp and grab one of the two cargo nets. Then they must work their way across the cargo net.

Grip Hang

Competitors must grab two out facing ledges and clear a small gap.

Floating Stairs

Competitors must work their way across the ledges by grabbing them. This obstacle is similar to the Devil Steps.

Pole Grasper

Competitors must grab the poles and work their way to the platform.

Spider Climb

Competitors must use their hands, feet, and core strength to go up the 30 ft chute. This has been the final obstacle for every finals course for seasons 5 and 6.

Spinning Wheel

Competitors must grab on to the wheel. Then they must hold on as the wheel turns. It's the Rolling Escargot.

Slack Ladder

Competitors must run across an unstable slack bridge.

Jumping Bars into Cargo Net

Competitors must jump from one bar to the next and then jump to a cargo net. Then competitors must go under the cargo net.

Cannonball Alley

Competitors must grab a ball and then swing from ball to ball. This one of the hardest obstacle in American Ninja Warrior history.

Tilting Table

Competitors must run across a free spinning table that has a foot divider midway.

Ring Toss

Competitors must move the rings from Peg to Peg. In Season 7, the pegs were futher apart than the season 6 version and the pegs alternated on both sides.

Swinging Frames

Competitors must grab a pivoting metal frame. Then they must swing to reach a second pivoting frame. Then they must swing to reach a third swinging frame . The season 7 version got rid of the third frame.

Rope Swing into Cargo Net

Competitors must use a Mini-Tramp and grab the rope. Then they must swing from rope to rope and grab the cargo net. Then competitors must go under the cargo net.

Double Tilt Ladder

Competitors must use their upper body strength to work their way across a tilting ladder. Then they must use momentum to grab another Ladder and work their way across.

Crazy Cliffhanger

This obstacle was originally from SASUKE. But the season 6 version wasn't like the original version. Competitors must work their way across a ledge using their finger tips. Then, instead of jumping to the next ledge, they grab ed two small ledges and grab the ledge an the other side. The season 7 version was more like the SASUKE version. Competitors must work their way across five ledges using their finger tips. At the fifth ledge, competitors would jump to the sixth ledge.

Downhill Pipe Drop

Competitors must use a pipe to slide downward across the track. Then at the end on the track, they must grab a rope and swing to safety.

Dancing Stones

Competitors must run across a bunch of wobbly stones without using their hands.

Minefield

Competitors must work their way across 12 hanging objects. The grip type changes depending on what object your holding (balls, sticks, or spikes.).

Cat Grab

Competitors must jump and grab a wall, climb up it, then jump and grab a second wall and jump to safety.

Spikes to Cargo Net

Competitors must jump from a Mini-Tramp and grab the 2 Spikes. Then they must swing to reach a third spike. Then they must grab a cargo net and go under it.

Doorknob Arch

Competitors must work their way across the arch by grabbing the doorknobs.

Mini Silk Slider

This is the mini version of the silk slider. Competitors must grab the silk and slide downward across the track. At the end of the track, competitors mist grab on to a rope. This obstacle took out 48 competitors in qualifying.

Spin Cycle

Competitors must work their way across three free spinning hoops.

Hourglass Drop

Competitors must work their way across a plank that is shaped like an hourglass. Then they must drop down to a Mini-Tramp and grab the S shaped free spinning plank.

Rumbling Dice

Clear Climb

Big Dipper

Competitors must grab a Bar and slide down the track and grab the rope ladder.

Floating Tiles

Competitors must run across four tiles that are different sizes.

Modified Ring Toss

Bungee Road

Competitors must work their way across 4 pairs of bungee strands and grab a log and slide down.

Flying Shelf Grab

Competitors must grab a bar and then swing and catch themselves on a small shelf. Then they must swing to another shelf, and then swing to the platform.

Body Prop

Tilting Slider

Competitors must move the Slider upwards until it slides down. Then they must jump from the Slider on to the pole. This was a hard obstacle, eliminating a record 52 competitors.

Cargo Crossing

Competitors must jump and grab a pivoting cargo net. Once they reach the end, they must swing and grab the trapeze bar, and then swing to the platform.

Swinging Spikes

Competitors must work their way across 8 spikes. Some will move forward and back, some will spin around, some will move side to side, and some are on a bungee and will drop straight down.

Walking Bar

Competitors must grab a bar and move it across 4 landing cups.

Paddle Boards

Competitors must run across 6 paddles on a center tilting axis.

Tire Swing

Competitors must grab two rings and use their arms and upper body strength to move 30 ft upward. This has been the final obstacle for every finals course in season 7.
