The Goren Hammer (5連ハンマー), referred to on English broadcasts as the Hammer Dodge, was an obstacle in the Second Stage for the first 9 SASUKE tournaments.

Competitors must cross a balance beam while dodging five large swinging hammers. It was used heavily in Kinniku Banzuke on various events, most notably in several incarnations of Bamboo Derby and Like a Pierrot.

In the first tournament, it eliminated two future SASUKE All-StarsYamada Katsumi and Yamamoto Shingo. However, after SASUKE 4, fewer competitors cleared the First Stage, and as the result, all of the remaining competitors were able to clear the obstacle. It was replaced with a more dangerous obstacle, the Balance Tank, in SASUKE 10.

In KUNOICHI 5, a variation of the Goren Hammer appeared as the fourth obstacle in the Second Stage, known as the Furiko Michi, but the number of hammers was decreased to four, and the hammers swung differently, making 2 on each side, and increasing gap between the hammers to make the obstacle more easier.

The Goren Hammer returned as the third obstacle in the BLUE Stage (Second Stage) from KUNOICHI 10 onward, which was now being called with its original name and functioned the same as the one used in SASUKE.

The Goren Hammer (called locally as Tránh búa qua cầu or Cầu búa) also appeared as the fourth obstacle in Stage 2 on SASUKE Vietnam.

On SASUKE Vietnam 2 and SASUKE Vietnam 3, the obstacle was moved as the third obstacle in Stage 1A. On SASUKE Vietnam 3, this obstacle shockingly took out SASUKE Vietnam 2 champion Lê Văn Thực, when he accidentally grabbed the hammer, resulting a disqualification.

It was replaced by Spinning Log on SASUKE Vietnam 4.
