The Floating Monkey Bars first appeared in the Pittsburgh City Finals of American Ninja Warrior 7 and later appeared in the Atlanta City Finals of American Ninja Warrior 8 as the eighth obstacle. It consists of two bars and six suspended trays. After competitors complete the Salmon Ladder, they must transfer to the two bars positioned in the first two trays. They then move forward by continuing to bring the rear bar to the next tray until they are close enough to make a jump to the landing mat.
In its ANW8 appearance, the fifth tray was moved six inches above the others, for added difficulty.
