ANW6 Swing Jump

American Ninja Warrior 6's Swing Jump in Dallas

The Swing Jump is an obstacle first introduced as the fourth obstacle in Baltimore on American Ninja Warrior 5; it appeared again in Dallas on American Ninja Warrior 6, once again as the fourth obstacle.

Competitors would start on a platform with a cylindrical swing on it. Then, they had to stand on it and swing long enough to build up lots of momentum to reach a cargo net. Once on it, they had to climb underneath it, carefully not to touch the water, and reach the landing platform.

This obstacle had a decent knockout rate, especially on its first appearance. Some competitors carelessly dragged their feet through the water, while others (such as Bull Bullard) couldn't get a good jump off the swing. Sam Sann had an interesting technique during Dallas qualifiers, by swinging on one of the support chains instead of the swing platform itself (because he slightly injured his ankle after completing the previous obstacle, the Tilting Table), and the same technique was later used by Dillon Gates.

This obstacle shared similarity with the Buranchō from KUNOICHI, as both obstacles required competitors to swing on a swing, with the exception that competitors sat down on the wooden board instead of stood on it. It also shared similarities to the Hazard Swing from SASUKE, as that also required competitors to swing on a swing while standing up.

SNWI2017 Swing Jump

SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia 2017's Swing Jump in Warrior Stage

On SASUKE Ninja Warrior Indonesia 2017, the Swing Jump appeared as the third obstacle during Warrior Stage. However, unlike on American Ninja Warrior, the landing platform was placed higher from the water and the swing competitors must swing onto is a wooden board just like the swing used for the Hazard Swing in SASUKE 26, unlike in American Ninja Warrior in which the swing is cylindrical in shape. This obstacle was proven to be brutal, as several competitors failed to generate enough swing and momentum to make the transition from the swing to the cargo net. In the end, the Swing Jump became the cut off for advancing to Semifinal Stage 1.
