Disk Runner was the 4th obstacle in Indianapolis Qualifying of American Ninja Warrior 8. Competitors first have to jump to an off-axis disk. There is a pole in the middle of this disk that contestants could use to steady themselves. They then jump 5 feet to a second disk that's off-axis in the other direction, also with three large blocks, and run to the other side. Contestants may not touch the disks with their hands. This obstacle proved to be devastating taking out many who attempted it including Michael Stanger.
In the city finals, the obstacle was modified so that the pole inside the first disk was half the height and blocks were added to the first disk.
- Because the Fly Wheels was the 3rd obstacle, the Disk Runner deviated from the 4th obstacle typically relying on upper body strength.
- Eliminations were mainly either a foot touching the water, hands touching the wheel or people falling off the side of the course.
- It's based off a Swedish playground toy called a Kompan Supernova
- The original concept of this obstacle is that there is only one disk but in the final design there is now two disks.
