Artis Thompson III is a personal trainer from Katy, TX, Artis is known by his nickname, AT3. Artis has been inspirational to many for running on a ninja course with a prosthetic leg, in which he lost one of his legs from a tragic motorcycle accident.


American Ninja Warrior 7[]

Artis Thompson III first competed in Houston in American Ninja Warrior 7, where he was the second person in ANW history to run the course on a prosthetic leg. In qualifying he looked strong through the Quintuple Steps and the Tilting Slider, but he failed the Spinning Log.

American Ninja Warrior 8[]

AT3 returned to compete in Oklahoma City in American Ninja Warrior 8. In qualifying, he put up a strong performance, clearing the Floating Steps, and the Ring Swing. However, the highlight of AT3's run came from his attempt on the Log Runner. Artis tripped on one of the logs, but did not get disqualified from touching the water. With him still alive in the competition, Artis had bear-crawled through the logs, and was able to beat it. Ultimately, he failed the Tire Swing, and even though he didn’t advance to the city finals, AT3 was given a standing ovation from the crowd, and was awarded POM run of the night.

American Ninja Warrior 9[]

Artis competed in American Ninja Warrior 9, where he participated in the San Antonio qualifiers. His run was not shown on broadcast, but it was revealed that he failed Tick Tock.

American Ninja Warrior 10[]

He then returned in American Ninja Warrior 10 in Dallas, where his run was once again all cut, but he was revealed to have failed Catch & Release.

American Ninja Warrior 11[]

He returned in Oklahoma City, where this time, he got past the second obstacle. However, he later fell on the Fly Wheels after a hard impact to the face on the second wheel.

Trivia[]

  • Artis Thompson III is just the second person to run the course on a prosthetic leg, after Stephen France in ANW 6 and 7.
  • Artis is the only competitor to have been awarded the POM Run of the Night, but not move on to the city finals. In his case, Artis was awarded for a valiant effort of getting through three obstacles with his disability.
