American Ninja Warrior: USA vs. The World 3 was the fourth installment of American Ninja Warrior's international tournament (after USA vs. Japan and 2 previous USA vs. The World tournaments), which was filmed on June 17th, 2016, and premiered on June 4th, 2017 (8 days before American Ninja Warrior 9's season premiere).
For the first time ever, Team Japan would not participate in this tournament. Instead, Team Latin America would make their American Ninja Warrior's international tournament debut. Also, there were 6 members for each team instead of 5.
Among the 6 members of Team USA for this tournament, 4 of them made their American Ninja Warrior's international tournament debut, including the first female competitor to be member of Team USA, Jessie Graff. Also, among the 6 members of Team Europe for this tournament, 2 of them made their American Ninja Warrior's international tournament debut (Owen McKenzie from United Kingdom and Bjarke Tønnesen from Denmark).
From Stage One to Stage Three, there were 3 heats in each stage.
Each heat consisted of 3 competitors (1 competitor from each team).
In each heat, the competitor who completed the course (or made the furthest) in the fastest time would receive points for his/her respective team: 1 point for each heat in Stage One, 2 points for each heat in Stage Two, and 3 points for each heat in Stage Three.
The points would be cumulated among those three stages, and the team who got the highest points would be the champion of the tournament.
If there were at least 2 teams who got the same highest points, those teams would send one member each to scale the Stage Four tower. Whoever reached the top of the tower in the fastest time, his/her respective team would be the champion of the tournament.
There was no time limit to complete the stages (Stage One to Stage Four).
Notes: Originally, Tim Shieff represented Team Europe for Heat 1. Unfortunately, due to knee injury while warming up, he was replaced by Bjarke Tønnesen, and wasn't able to compete for the rest of the tournament.
